Review of Poetry N Motion: A Night of Soulful Expression in Texarkana

Writer: LaTonya MeChelle LaTonya MeChelle

Last week, I had the distinct pleasure of attending Poetry N Motion, and I must say, it was a truly enriching experience. A heartfelt thank you to Gary Hill for the invitation—his dedication to uplifting our community shines through in events like this.

As someone who appreciates the art of spoken word, I was thrilled to see such talent on display. This event felt reminiscent of what you might find in larger cities like Atlanta or LA, right here in our own Texarkana. Watching these young performers—each under 35—take the stage and share their thoughts was nothing short of inspiring. Their courage to express their innermost feelings in front of an audience is commendable, and it created a therapeutic atmosphere for everyone involved.

While the attendance was modest, the energy in the room was vibrant. You don’t need a large crowd to create a memorable experience; the vibe was classy and intimate, filled with love and support. The venue, Eighty Four Phase II Bar & Grill, added to the charm, offering food, drinks, and even pool tables for a relaxed setting.

For anyone who believes Texarkana lacks cultural offerings, I encourage you to reconsider. Poetry N Motion takes place every Thursday from 8 PM to 11 PM, and it’s an excellent opportunity to support local talent while enjoying an evening of creativity and connection.

I highly recommend checking it out and experiencing the power of words in a warm, inviting atmosphere. I’d love to hear your thoughts after you attend!
