Are you originally from Texarkana and/or surrounding areas? Yes.

Can you share a brief background about yourself? I was born and raised in Texarkana and graduated from Arkansas High School. I moved to Dallas in 1994, where I raised my two daughters in Mesquite, TX. I relocated back to Texarkana in 2016 when I got married and settled down. So, Texarkana and Dallas will always be home for me. I decided to become an entrepreneur in early 2023 to pursue my passion for decorating parties. I've always enjoyed hosting gatherings with my family and friends over the years and also served as an Event Coordinator with the JL Turner Paralegal Association. I took some time to learn how to create balloon decorations, which I found to be beautiful and joyful for any event. I'm mostly self-taught but have taken a few classes to master my skill set.

What is your current role, occupation, business? I am the owner of my startup business, Pop Off Crew.

What inspired you to start your journey in this field or community service? I was inspired by my late aunt and best friend, Charsie Williams. She loved decorating and family time and always celebrated others as well as herself—she was the life of the party. When she suddenly passed, I used decorating as therapy to help occupy my time and bring joy to others. It was definitely a win-win situation.

Describe a specific project or initiative you’ve been involved in that has made a difference in the community. I'm more of a behind-the-scenes person. I donate a lot but keep it private because I love doing things from the heart and not for show.

Who or what do you consider your biggest inspiration, and why? My mom, late dad George, brother, daughters, and my family have always been my biggest supporters and cheerleaders.

What challenges have you faced in your journey, and how have you overcome them? I've faced a few obstacles in finding a good work-life balance. I can get pretty booked at times, and I've learned how to prioritize self-care, which is very important.

Can you share a story that highlights a moment of triumph or joy in your work?

I've had several memorable experiences, but my most significant one was DJ Hollygrove's Birthday Bash in 2024. I felt I finally had a "swan moment" when I was able to change my entire style of decor. I love clients who give me the freedom to decorate as I please. I was nervous because I knew the crowd would be huge, and it felt like a sink-or-swim opportunity. Once the doors opened, everyone was shocked, and even hotel guests were walking through, completely amazed.

What advice would you give to someone interested in what you do or just making a difference as a whole? No matter what it looks like or how you feel in the moment, never stop moving forward. Create a tunnel vision for your goals and let distractions deal with themselves. Only you know your dreams, so never let anyone take you away from them.

How do you envision your work evolving in the future? I envision it becoming bigger and better as I grow.

Is there anything else you would like to add or share with our audience? Stay tuned and remain blessed. I appreciate the love and support since I started from day one.

Last but not least, what is your favorite thing about Texarkana? Not having to deal with the traffic and hustle and bustle of city life. I prefer to just visit and come back home.
